When you don't get enough sleep, your cortisol levels rise. Can you say "stress hormone"? High cortisol means there's something wrong with your body... and as Elsa says, "Don't worry about it." Cortisol also activates the reward center in your brain, arousing cravings for sweets and sandwiches. Getting between seven and nine hours of sleep a night can help control blood pressure and cholesterol levels, as well as combat cortisol levels.

"So how do you deal with kids, dogs and all the normal life distractions you ask?

Here are some of my favorite sleep tips. If you're someone who stays up late thinking about tomorrow's to-do list, these tips may help you.

Writing for a magazine

If you write down what you are grateful for each night before bedtime, you can focus on the positive things in your life. That way you can go to sleep without worrying about the next day. If you still have trouble falling asleep, pick an article from a magazine and practice imagining every aspect of the article - what it looks like, what it smells like, what it tastes like, how you feel when you have it and when you're doing that thing.

Hot, hot, hot.

Studies have shown that drinking a hot shower or hot tea can help your body relax. Try decaffeinated organic tea with a little honey or lemon. Hot tea is perfect for a stressful day and can help you sleep better. If you don't like tea, take a hot shower. The hot water will help your muscles relax, and as your muscles relax, others will soon follow.

Melatonin.

The hormone melatonin plays a role in your natural sleep-wake cycle. Levels of natural melatonin in the blood are highest at night. My favorite melatonin preparation is Sleep Spray, which is part of your brain and sleep support system. I use this supplement every night to help me sleep deeper for longer periods of time. If your body can tolerate longer periods of deep sleep, you'll wake up feeling refreshed and refreshed.

Berry ripper at bedtime.

Another popular bedtime routine is the BBB or Bedtime Belly Buster. I like to help my body fight fat while I sleep, and that's exactly what the BBB is made for.

Did you know that taking protein before bedtime can help you feel fuller and boost your metabolism? The Bedtime Belly Buster (or BBB) is an incredible snack that uses IsaPro with fruits and greens to fight nightly cravings. So stay on the road to burning belly fat while you sleep! Click here to order your own BBB.

At the end of the day, the best gift you can give yourself is a good night's sleep. May you have sweet and relaxing dreams.
